Hirakimata Mountain Challenge

Kia mau te wehi! Experience the spectacular views as you walk to the top of Hirakīmata, (Mt Hobson), this is the island’s highest peak and is of great cultural significance for Mana Whenua, Ngāti Rehua Ngātiwai ki Aotea.

This is an all day hardy trek that is approximately 6 hours of walking.  You can expect hundreds of steps, steep sections and exposure to the weather.  This is an amazing journey that is thoroughly rewarding, with its unique flora and fauna, native plants and interesting tales.  At this stage, visitors will return by the same route due to storm damage on the other side.
