Kaitoke Hot Springs

Saturday 29th April

The Kaitoke Hot Springs track is well-made and to a high standard; wide enough to allow oncoming walkers to pass easily.  These healing hot waters were used by early Maori to bathe and reenergise themselves. The track itself follows an ancient shoreline along the Kaitoke wetlands.

Look out for fernbirds, spotless crake, orchids or sun dews. 45 minutes into the walk you come across a stream which has been dammed to form a few small, humble hot pools.  Bring your lunch, togs, or just soak your feet.  Don’t expect souvenir shops and hot dogs.
